Hotel San Jose, which sets the standard for boutique hotels in Austin, is celebrating it’s 10 Year Anniversary tonight, and wants you to celebrate with them. At the celebration you can see a special screening of “The Last Days of the San Jose,” brought to you by Alamo’s Rolling Road Show. This documentary brings to life the dramatic transformation the hotel underwent a decade ago, after hotelier Liz Lambert acquired it. The movie begins at 7:15pm, and is followed by a performance by Barbara Lynn with the Allen Oldies Band at 9pm. Just after that Hotel San Jose will host an afterparty featuring food by the amazing La Condesa, and a performance by Amy Cook. They also promise other special surprises, so have your surprised face ready!
More about Hotel San Jose:
The San Jose Motel was originally built as an ultra-modern motor court in
the heart of Austin in the 1930′s. As time passed, the San Jose fell into disrepair and sat that way until it was purchased by Liz Lambert in 1997. With the help of San Antonio architecture firm Lake/Flato, Liz remodeled the motel into its modern incarnation as the Hotel San Jose – a sleek and elegant 40-room modern courtyard hotel in a Zen-like setting. A documentary film, made by Liz Lambert, entitled The Last Days of the San Jose documents the interesting and significant transformation of the hotel and subsequently the South Congress neighborhood.
You can find Hotel San Jose at 1316 South Congress Ave
