There will be something strange in the air this Saturday night, but for once it won’t be the smell of sweat compacted by oppressive heat and humidity. Tonight at Scoot Inn you’ll find Night Fever Volume 4: The Strange Edition, an event that is especially important to event organizer Scott “Papa Chop” Romero from Soul of the Boot Entertainment.

-Scott’s partner (StrangeTribe Productions) and all-around good guy, Jeff Strange, is celebrating his birthday. Nothing wrong with that…

-Get ready to grab your crotch with excitement, because it’s also Michael Jackson’s birthday, and there will be a special tribute to him at the stroke of midnight.

-This weekend also marks the 1 year anniversary since Soul of the Boot and Strange Tribe Productions teamed up to create and promote incredible events throughout Austin.

-The 29th is also a very somber day because it marks the 5 year anniversary of Katrina, which uprooted many, many people from their homes. Scott managed to end up in Austin, though, so we’re grateful for that.

-Finally, Scott is celebrating the birth of his second child, Franti, born on August 21.  That’s plenty of reason to have a party right there!

So what does this lovefest really mean for you? What it means is for $5 (RSVP on Facebook for this price) you get a night of dancing to music by DJ Manny, DJ Resinthol, Nick Nack, Manolo Black, Coolhands, and a VJ set by DJ Orion. You’ll also get live art by b.e. Strange and Record Fair, MJ goodies by Friends of Sound Records, and photos by Zappy Springs Photography.

So go out and support not only and event, but a guy who has been spreading his special brand of Cajun love to Austin for quite a while. If you see Scott, be sure to tell him, ‘hi,’ he’s from Louisiana, after all, and you will likely never meet nicer people than people from my home state.

**Please see below for our ode to South Louisiana, if you want to know a little more about me, Scott, and all of the wonderful people who claim that magical place as our home.
