See: Comic Con comes to Austin, November 12-14

by: Laurie Lyons

Oh, Austin. One of my favorite things about you is that you are full of some of the most brilliant, unique, unusual people whom I have ever met. I am overrun by card-carrying, flag-flying geeks/nerds/dorks who are yet somehow still really, really cool, in their own way. I love how easily a night of drinking at a local hotspot can turn into a gushfest over the godliness of Joss Whedon, or a debate over Batman vs Superman that could easily lead into a barroom brawl.

Welcome to’s Austin Comic Con, my preciouses. It starts this Friday, November 12 and runs through Sunday, November 14, at Austin Convention Center. And for the low, low weekend price of just $45 adv and $50 for the entire weekend, It has a little something for everyone; so pick your poison, and check out what’s available to meet all of your nerdly needs.

Tights, capes, Superheroes & Villains have it all!: The Incredible Hulk Q&A with Lou Ferrigno,  Bionic Woman panel with Lindsay Wagner and Richard Anderson, Ray Park Q&A, Adam West and Burt Ward Q&A

I like Vampires, they’re fangtastic!: “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” Q&A panel with Nicholas Brendan and Clare Kramer, My Sucky Teen Romance panel/footage screening

Who needs beauty, when you can have braaaaaains? I’m on team Zombie: “Walking Dead” preview, including extended scenes

All my words need to have cool pictures; hooray for Comics!: Drink and Draw party with Uncle Staple at Club DeVille, Wizard Art School with Michael Golden, Greg Horn, Bill Sienkiewicz, and others, Writing Comics with Matthew Sturges

I like Sci-Fi and Fantasy in all their forms: The Matrix movie screening, Ghostbusters movie screening with Ernie Hudson, costume parade featuring Minor Mishap Marching Band

Beam me up, I like my Sci-Fi in Space: Billy Dee Williams Q&A panel, Walter Koenig Q&A panel, “Babylon 5″ beauty Claudia Christian Q&A panel

And though I’m still completely puzzled as to why Wrestling has anything to do with sci-fi/comic con: Women of Wrestling panel with Torrie Wilson, Amy Dumas, Jackie Haas, and others.

AND SO MUCH MORE! Check out the full event line-up here. And don’t forget to buy your advance tickets here. And of course, you’ve got to make those lasting memories: check out the full line-up of photo ops and purchase them ahead of time here.
